Paulson & Nace, PLLC, is proud to announce that this year’s recipient of the Barry J. Nace “Pursuit of Justice” Scholarship is Christina Gil, a J.D. Candidate at American University Washington College of Law. Ms. Gil is an extraordinary young woman who is committed to pursuing justice for those in need.

“We had many impressive scholarship candidates, but Christina’s work really resonated with us,” said firm founder Barry J. Nace. “Not only is she an excellent student, but she has dedicated herself to working with groups who are aligned with our goals and beliefs when it comes to the civil justice system. We expect extraordinary things from her in the future, and it is our great pleasure to help her achieve those goals.”

Ms. Gil is expected to graduate in 2020. She is currently a member of multiple legal communities, including the Latino/a Law Students’ Association (LaLSA), the American Bar Association, and the Hispanic Bar Association of the District of Columbia (HBA-DC), where she serves on the Student Affairs Committee.

About Christina Gil

Christina Gil completed her undergraduate work at Georgetown University in 2013, where she was awarded First Honors for multiple semesters. During this time, she worked as an Institute Assistant for the Georgetown University School of Continuing Studies, and later as a legal aid intern at the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights (ICIRR). She also worked as a law clerk in the office of the Cook County Public Defender; an Administrative Assistant to Senior Vice President at AGB Search; a Program Assistant for the National Hispana Leadership Institute (NHLI); and later as a Scheduling Intern and Assistant to the Chicago Director for the office of Senator Richard Durbin.

While attending American University, Ms. Gil has worked as a paralegal for the Immigration Law Group, P.C.; an Executive Assistant to Chief Academic Officer for Carlos Rosario International Public Charter School; and most recently, as a Recruitment, Visa and Immigration Specialist for the Howard University Office of Human Resources.

Ms. Gil chose each of these roles and projects in order to gain new perspectives and insights into how the justice and legislative systems work. This, in turn, has fed her passion for sustaining and improving those systems, so that all people are represented fairly and justly in a court of law.

The Barry J. Nace “Pursuit of Justice” Scholarship is given annually to a law student enrolled in an accredited law school anywhere throughout the United States. The student must exhibit a strong passion for civil justice, and to protecting those who cannot protect themselves.
